Overview
Sonchou (村長, "Village Chief") is a recurring eccentric character in Arakawa Under the Bridge, known as the leader of the strange community living under the Arakawa bridge. He acts as a local authority figure and comic presence, often giving orders or making decisions in the village despite the absurd, chaotic nature of the setting. The character’s role is mainly to reinforce the series’ surreal humor and to represent the odd social hierarchy of the bridge community.
