Overview
Ponyo is the main character of the Studio Ghibli film Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea). She is a magical fish-like sea creature and the daughter of the sorcerer Fujimoto and the sea goddess Granmamare. Curious and energetic, she escapes the ocean and forms a close bond with a human boy named Sosuke. Her journey drives the film’s story, as her wish to live as a human creates the central conflict and emotional heart of the movie.
