Hikaru Shindo is the main protagonist of the anime series 'Hikaru no Go'. He is a young, energetic boy who initially has no interest in the ancient board game Go. His life changes when he discovers an old Go board in his grandfather's attic and encounters the spirit of Fujiwara no Sai, a Go master from the Heian period. Sai becomes a mentor to Hikaru, guiding him on a journey to become a professional Go player.
