Overview
Isao Kondo is a major supporting character in Gintama and the earnest, good-hearted commander of the Shinsengumi, the police force that helps maintain order in Edo. He is known for his strong sense of duty, straightforward personality, and often comedic devotion to Otae, which frequently puts him in absurd situations. Despite being a source of humor, he is also a capable leader and a loyal ally to the main cast when serious conflicts arise.
