Overview
Caterpie is a small, green Bug-type Pokémon from Pocket Monsters (Pokémon). It is known for its caterpillar-like body, large red antenna on its head, and a distinctive yellow underside. Caterpie is one of the earliest Pokémon Ash encounters in the series, and its role is often to introduce the idea of Pokémon evolution and training. It is usually portrayed as timid but determined, and it evolves into Metapod and then Butterfree, making it an important early companion in the story.
