Overview
Youko Nakajima is the protagonist of Juuni Kokuki (The Twelve Kingdoms). She begins as an ordinary Japanese high school student who is suddenly taken to the Twelve Kingdoms, where she must survive political intrigue, monsters, and harsh moral tests. Over time, she grows from a frightened, uncertain girl into a capable and determined leader. Her journey centers on self-discovery, responsibility, and the burden of ruling, making her the key character driving the series' main story.
