Overview
Nyanko-sensei is a powerful spirit and the self-appointed guardian of Takashi Natsume in Natsume's Book of Friends (Natsume Yuujinchou). Usually seen in the form of a plump lucky cat, he is actually the formidable yokai Madara. He serves as Natsume's protector, guide, and reluctant companion while also waiting for the day he can claim the Book of Friends. Despite his greedy and sarcastic nature, he often helps Natsume deal with spirits and reveals a softer, loyal side.
