Overview
Black Jack is the enigmatic protagonist of the manga and anime series Black Jack, created by Osamu Tezuka. He is an unlicensed but brilliant surgeon who performs impossible operations for enormous fees, though he often helps patients in desperate situations for free. Scarred and mysterious, he lives outside the medical establishment and follows his own strict moral code. As the central character, he drives the series through standalone stories about medicine, ethics, human suffering, and compassion.
