Overview
Shigeru Okido, also known as Gary Oak in the English adaptation, is a recurring character in the 'Pocket Monsters' (Pokémon) series. He is the grandson of Professor Okido and serves as Ash Ketchum's main rival during the early seasons. Smart, confident, and sometimes arrogant, Shigeru pushes Ash to improve as a Pokémon Trainer. Over time, he matures and becomes a researcher like his grandfather, demonstrating growth and a deeper understanding of Pokémon.
