Overview
Izana Shinatose is a major character in the anime and manga series 'Sidonia no Kishi' (Knights of Sidonia). Izana is a close friend and confidant of the protagonist, Nagate Tanikaze. Born as a third-gender human, Izana initially has an androgynous appearance and gradually develops more feminine features over the course of the series. As a skilled Guardian pilot, Izana plays a crucial role in defending Sidonia from the alien Gauna threat, while also providing emotional support to Nagate and other crew members.
